Private Pilot License

Candidates must be 17 years of age for the issuance of a Private Pilot Licence however they may begin at the age of 15. The candidate will also be required to have completed a Category 3 medical approved by Transport Canada.

If your goal is to take total advantage of flying light aircraft, then the private pilot licence is preferred over the recreational permit. This licence will allow you to fly with more than one passenger and will let you attach ratings to your licence, which means you could do additional training to fly at night or even fly multi-engine aeroplanes.
